Our client found this stunning floor hidden under the carpet of their Victorian era house. Unsure if anything could be done with it, they called in L.F.R. The floor posed a few notable problems, from uneven and broken boards, to heavy layers of oil, wax, varnish and paint. To tackle this tough job, LFR firstly repaired the floor, given it the much needed structural integrity for the aggressive sanding that was required to strip the floor back and level it out. To complete this restoration, LFR used a silk matt lacquer to meet our clients design brief.
LFR were called to inspect this Cherry wood floor which had been damaged as a result of a slow leak. LFR were able to transform this floor from damaged tired, and dull to as good as new in just one working day. In order to deliver the transformation our expert team sanded the wooden floor back, stained the wood a uniform colour throughout and sealed the floor with an enhancing primer.
The staining on this floor had been caused by a nervous rescue dog who hadn’t quite mastered house training. Ammonia in the dogs urine had created stains so deep that the grain of the wood had been penetrated. To restore this floor to its former glory, LFR used industrial floor sanding machines and high grade sanding paper, combined with a specialist wood bleach treatment. Once the floor was stain free; the transformation was completed with a natural looking polyurethane finish.
Our client had been advised to condemn this floor, which would have been costly and time consuming.
This floor had been subjected to extensive water damage from leaks resulting in warped boards and a lifting floor. We advised the client that as the cause of the leak had been repaired, the floor did not need to be condemned and could be simply repaired if the client was willing to work fast. LFR removed the floorboards that were damaged beyond repair, crucially this gave the floor the much needed room to be able to contract and swell without damaging the remaining floor. We then set up dehumidifiers and left them at the clients home for 10 days. This allowed the floor to thoroughly dry, which then enabled us to complete the repairs to the floor.
This country cottage had many different pine floors visible in a newly created open plan area. Our client briefed as they wanted to achieve a white washed natural finish whilst remaining authentic to the character of an old pine floor, to compliment their home design.
This floor was heavily worn from years of footfall, and had been subject to water damage at one point. Although now dry, where water had engrained into the floor boards, they had turned grey and unsightly.
This was a relatively simple restoration of Oak Engineered Boards, although with only a 3mm wear layer we were aware of the constraints of the floor. We stripped the floor with gentle sanding, diminishing as little of the wear layer as possible to extend the life span of the floor. We finished the floor using products in line with our clients design aspirations and were able to sign off on the job in only 2 days.

As part of an office relocation LFR were asked to come in and restore this tired worn floor that had been hidden beneath old carpet tiles. The old tile adhesive was tough to get rid of but it was worth it. Underneath and neglected by its previous inhabitants was a rustic oak floor that had wonderfully vibrant grain running through it. To enhance the colour of the wood grain we used an alcohol primer to give a lovely depth of colour.
L.F.R were called to an ex-factory in Luton that was being redeveloped. The floor had received heavy damage and was incredibly grimy from the property’s restoration and development. The floor had suffered areas of water damage from leaks and to add to that, the floor hadn’t been exposed for over three decades.
Once we had completed the extensive repairs, we sanded the floor back to reveal this rich mahogany parquet underneath. In today’s money, this floor would cost in the region of £60,000 to install.
LFR finished the floor using products that would achieve a traditional finish, whilst being hardwearing the protect the treasure of the floor underneath.

LFR were called to inspect this floor in a disused factory, covered in old lubricants and oils our client was certain that floor needed to be condemned. Owing to our top of the range and powerful machines used by LFR, we were able to strip the floor back, removing years of stubborn grime, dirt and oil to reveal this stunning oak parquet.
To honour and respect the floor and the era in which is was laid, we finished the floor by using a matt finish and an oil based primer, to keep the unique features of this incredible floor as traditional as possible. From start to finish this amazing transformation took our expert team only 2 days to complete.
This is a class maple strip floor, common across many different venues in the UK. This particular floor was part of a church refurbishment, under the control of Heritage England. LFR had a strict brief to restore this floor back to its original condition.
Milton Keynes theatre called LFR about the damage to their dance studio. Tap dancers had severely scratched the hardwood surface and were looking for advice as to how to remedy the damage.
LFR identified the flooring in question as a Junckers sylva beech sprung floor and advised a full refurbishment using Junckers products and methods. The floor was sanded down to remove all scratches. The floor was then filled using a mixture of the sawdust from the floor and a high strength resin. Final sanding removed any excess filler and 3 coats of Junckers 2 part commercial lacquers were applied to the floor as per manufacturer’s recommendations. The floor was returned to the clients as good as new in 2 days.
Generally speaking, Sports Floors are sprung floors specifically designed for sports, the additional give built into the floor not only reduces injuries to players, but also increases the lifespan of the floor by allowing for movement and heavier footfall. This sports floor had been renovated by another company only 3 years ago, but was showing wear of a floor 10+ years old. Uneven sanding meant the floor was at risk of not being fit for purpose and being condemned. LFR had to work cautiously with this floor, sanding back one layer at a time to ensure the floor maintained adequate wear layers. After completing the restoration, LFR applied the required court markings for a multipurpose gymnasium.
